Our Member, Arthur Thorning, kindly sent me this information about exhibitions at The Quadriga Gallery in London for your attention:

“Dear Gil,

NHAS members may like to know that the next exhibition (6 Feb – 21 April 2013) at the Quadriga Gallery (in the Wellington Arch) will be ‘The Birth Of Modern Archaeology’ – ‘…the unfolding story of the first scientific investigations into England’s remote past.’. The gallery is small but seems to get some good material – worth a look if nearby. Currently showing ‘Egypt in England’, which Val and I found very interesting.

The Quadriga is named for the four horse bronze on the top of the arch. Open Wed – Sun 10.00 to 17.00; £4 or free to EH members.See www.english-heritage.co.uk/quadriga Lots of memorials nearby, including the new one for Bomber Command.

Hope to see you at the NHAS Christmas gathering.

Arthur”
